As a resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina my whole life, (better known as Fort Bragg in the military world) I should have known what it was like to be part of the Army. But growing up around it did not necassarily give me that insight.
Many of us can recall the unique set of challenges that affect our daily lives from big moves, to deployments and homecomings, or even processing grief. The idea of being “prepared” can feel unattainable when life is encompassed by change and uncertainty. To help overcome these obstacles Sesame Workshop has created resources to prepare families and help them remain flexible in turbulent times. They have incorporated realistic and approachable models to help parents and children process “big feelings” together.
Our veterans served America. They protected us and our way of life. We must stand by them. Our veterans know about patrolling land, sea, and air. Veterans in hospice are on their final fight and in their last patrol. And that’s where Veteran’s Last Patrol comes in.
Does anyone remember as far back as 8th grade? Probably not. It’s one of those years where your body is still changing, you’re trying to block out the embarrassing moments, and just want to make it to high school.
So, We did a thing over here at Army Wife Network. We held an essay contest across all branches of the military as well as the Department of Defense civilian population. The contest theme was “Proud to Be” and we asked participants to describe why they are proud to be a spouse or loved one of a service member.
As the cool days start to roll in and the leaves begin to change into their vibrant colors; it brings on the realization of the changing seasons.
When we think of summer, most of us instantly think of vacation, right? In some cases that might be true. However, let’s be honest, once you’re an adult your “vacation” time dwindles to maybe two weeks.
