As you get older, perhaps you resemble the Dandelion a little bit less.
Finding Strength in Change: Navigating Military Life with a Child with Special Needs….You didn’t choose this life—this ever-changing, unpredictable journey that comes with being a military spouse and a parent to a child with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD).
While military families have many of their basic needs (such as housing and health insurance) met as part of their service benefits, many still struggle with other necessities and resources, such as being able to secure enough food.
I had been a military spouse for just a couple of years, when at 27 years old my first child was born
One thing that has been most important to me, as a military spouse, is figuring out how to best do this life while supporting our children with the changes and difficulties. When my children were very small, there were many times that my husband was away, and I had to parent my children alone.
In the time leading up to my husband’s military retirement, I did my best to prepare like I do for any major life event.
his month’s topic is supposed to be about being lucky to be a military spouse. As I sat here and tried to think about what it means to me to be lucky to be a milspouse, I decided I didn’t like that word- lucky.
February brings to mind Valentine’s Day and all the people I love. I always acknowledge my love of my family, but this February I started thinking about all of my Military spouse (MILspouse) valentines I have made along the Army journey.
There are many gifts that come with being a military spouse. These are some of the most common gifts that quickly come to mind: Insurance, Security, Travel, Community, and Pride.
