The Season of Change

As the cool days start to roll in and the leaves begin to change into their vibrant colors; it brings on the realization of the changing seasons.

When I was younger my favorite season was always summer.

However, since I’ve grown older, fall has become a lot more appealing. Especially when it comes to taking three littles to the park.

The fall season is packed with fun things to do such as farm trips, Halloween, hunting season, football season and my personal favorite Thanksgiving. It’s a season that always keeps you on your toes.

This fall season for us however, is transitioning out of the military.

Well, partially. My husband and I decided a couple months ago to start looking at other opportunities.

Although he loves the military, his unit is in the process of potentially coming to a screeching halt. This put a huge damper on things, and limited what choices he would have moving forward.

I, on the other hand, took a second job working as a youth director at our church. To add to this mix, we also had our third baby six months ago.

Talk about the season of change.

I feel like nothing truly prepares you for big seasons like this. You’re kind of just thrown into it and expected to make the best out of it.

This season of change seems to feel a little heavier. My husband is saying goodbye to the only job he’s ever known, and I have taken on extra roles as we are still trying to figure out how to balance all that life has given us.

We are very blessed, but the anxieties of these changes are very present.

As a military spouse and mom, my mind has spiraled into all the unknown. Which is a common feeling in the military world. Dealing with the unknown is a hard concept, especially for someone who likes to be in control.

However, if the military has taught me anything, it’s that you are NOT ever in control.

So, to all the other spouses out there. If this is a season of change for you, you are not alone. I would like to remind you that despite being in this hard season, your new season is right around the corner.
