Military families prepare for a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) by making lists—many of them. At the top of every list is at least one item that embodies some aspect of military housing, whether it is notifying your landlord of your departure, renting or selling your current home, or securing housing at your next military installations.
When we think about American life at the beginning, way back in 1776, I think most of us conjure up images of powdered wigs and petticoats, muskets and black powder, while a patriotic marching song plays in the background performed by a fife and drum. But did you know that a some of the earliest, trail-blazing military spouse entrepreneurs also had their start during the American Revolution?

I’ve just recently launched a new business, but this is not my first time at the business ownership rodeo. I have felt the unadulterated joy of a first sale and the unmitigated devastation of closing a business. So I thought I might share some lessons learned, some of those hard-knock, shoulda-woulda-coulda ideas that might have made a difference the first time around.
I’m stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, and my wife is new to the Army. She doesn’t speak English. Her first language is Spanish, and she is trying to find out if there are some English classes available around Fort Riley. We have asked locally and will possibly check into Army OneSource, but if we can get a some more information or help, we will appreciate it.
