Has this heat melted us all away? I feel fried and refried. Body and soul. I can’t be the only one. And, I’m a stay-at-home parent; I don’t want to even begin thinking about bosses, commutes, and demanding deadlines all in the proper (un-summer friendly) work attire. Popsicles and flip-flops have become more my style.
But yet, even with this laissez faire lifestyle, I’m struggling a little bit with the overloaded kitchen sink, sticky fingers, and the constant clutter and chatter that goes with summer-at-home kids. So, I’ve spent a few minutes brainstorming some ideas that should help me, and hopefully you, through the rest of these sizzling summer days.

One of the most important parts of supporting your service member as they serve our country is “holding down the fort” (See also: running a smooth, loving, and supportive home life for you and your family, while keeping all things going in your service member’s absence). Easy peasy, right? Sometimes, not so much.
With this category, we cover everything behind the scenes, such as organization, communication, marriage, parenting, overcoming trials, and just some good ole fashioned humor.
Join us as we embark on figuring out the home-life balance as a milspouse and find ways to thrive and excel! No matter what your life at home looks like, one of our Experience Bloggers or Command Team members has probably been in a similar situation and is here to share their triumphs, lessons, and laughs along the way.
Less is More: Discovering Decluttering
I don’t know about you, but every time we move I find myself with a problem.
About halfway through unpacking the endless boxes, I find I’m perfectly happy with how the house looks. Closets have clothes, but aren’t overflowing, shelves have stuff but aren’t packed to the brim, cupboards have items but with plenty of space. At this point, I’m done. And not just done because moving and unpacking is hard work, but done in the broader sense.
Dad Life
I’ve written several times now about my life as a mother—all the ups and downs and ins and outs that came with the arrival of my little boy last fall. But, there’s another person who is an absolutely indispensable part of the Reynolds “Baby Raising Team.” My husband. My child’s dad.
6 Affordable Summer Activities
Here at Fort Knox, we have one week of school left. One week! I don’t think I’ve been this excited about summer break since I was a kid. I’m usually the parent who dreads summer break—the long weeks of having all the kids at home, no schedule, no daily routine, no extracurricular activities, the inevitable boredom, the hot temperatures. It is now time to plan some summer activities.
5 Things a Milspouse Should Never Do
May is recognized as Military Appreciation Month. It’s a time where we celebrate different aspects of the military community, from military spouses to those that made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, it’s a time to reflect on how amazing our military community. There is Mother’s Day. My soldier and I don’t have any kids yet, but I’m incredibly lucky to have an awesome mother on my side that also took in her first son (-in-law) a couple years ago. Last year, I talked about how thankful I am to have her in my life. I thought it would only be appropriate to share some important lessons learned.
Wardrobe Reset
I don’t consider myself to be fashion conscious, and truth be told, I can’t make sense of most clothing trends. But during a recent wardrobe reset, I’ve finally found a trend I can get behind: the minimalist wardrobe.
