Dear, Field Problems:
I am a veteran, a spouse of an active duty soldier, and a mom of two children. I also work as a Soldier and Family Readiness Group Advisor at Fort Bragg. One of our “field problems” is how to revive our SFRG so that family members can get the support they need. We surveyed family members and found people really want the social aspect, not the learning aspect, which is surprising to me. How do we achieve both?

I am an Army wife, a member of that sisterhood of women who have had the courage to watch their men go into battle and the strength to survive until their return. Our sorority knows no rank, for we earn our membership with a marriage license, traveling over miles or over nations to begin a new life with our soldier-husbands. Within days, we turn a barren, echoing building into a home, and though our quarters are inevitably white-walled and unpapered, we decorate with the treasures of our travels, for we shop the markets of the globe.

I’ve heard that the month of April is when the military honors military children. Are there any special things going on at installations? Where can I find out more about resources for my children?

Faced with the prospect of spending another holiday alone, military spouses might recognize a kindred spirit this Christmas season: Mrs. Clause. She must be a military spouse!

I received an email from my first grader’s music teacher requesting that all the children who have family members overseas this Christmas bring a photo to the Holiday Music program and hold up the picture while they sing Bring Him Home, Santa.
