PCS

If you are PCSing this year, then you’ve come to the right place!

Here at Mission: Milspouse, we’ve faced our fair share of relocations, DITYs, government moves, overseas stints, and everything in between. We’ve been there and done that, and we have the stickers to prove it.

With all that experience, we know how stressful it can be. Packing and loading mean moving all of your belongings—special things, irreplaceable things—and none of us really want things broken or damaged. While we can’t ensure there won’t be casualties of PCS, we can help you prepare to make the move a little smoother.

Check out all of our blog post pertaining to all things PCS. Get ready for some practical tips AND insight into experiences of those who have been there, moved that.

My Secret Weapon for a Tear-Free PCS

My Secret Weapon for a Tear-Free PCS

This month, I’m going to share my secret PCS weapon with you. I remember being a young military spouse and having that first PCS come around. I felt so overwhelmed. Now, with five moves under my belt and a few more to come before we say goodbye to the Army, I’m a pro at making our PCS moves hassle free.

My Little Army Brat

My Little Army Brat

To celebrate April, Month of the Military Child, I dug out this patriotic picture of my sweet son Caden, because he was being so stinkin’ cooperative in my attempt to show just how dearly he loves his mama.

I cannot imagine how these little treasures ever got dubbed with the term “Army brat.”

Personally, I was fired from doing our personal income taxes a couple years ago after failing to mail our payment to the IRS. In my defense, I did the return, wrote the check, addressed the envelope, and put the postage on it. Unfortunately, it didn’t make it from my desk to the mailbox.

That was an expensive lesson to learn, although I’m not that sad about no longer being “in charge” of the tax filing…

Which category do you fall into? Are you procrastinating because you moved last year and don’t remember where you put all the receipts and other important tax papers? Or, are you the organized person who is the first person in line the day your installation tax center opens?

If you’re like many and procrastinating or finding that frequent moves cause confusion at tax time, these tips and resources might help this year and in the future.

A Business That Moves With You

A Business That Moves With You

Relocations can be challenging for military spouses, but with new assignments come opportunities to live in many parts of the country and even the world—and the chance to meet new people along the way. While life as a military spouse is certainly exciting, it can be difficult for military spouses to develop a career and hold the same job for a long period of time.

Making Your Kitchen the Heart of Your Home

Making Your Kitchen the Heart of Your Home

Thinking back to my childhood some of my fondest memories are the times I spent with my mom in the kitchen. I have an image etched into my memory of me standing in my “spot” at the end of the counter, watching my mom cook dinner. I also smile when I remember making snickerdoodle or spritz cookies with her. It’s one of the ways I learned to cook – by watching her while we talked. This is why I love to cook and want to create those same memories with my children.
