At the beginning of March, the Washington, D.C. area was attacked by snow. I don’t know about you, but I’m over the cold weather. I’m ready to put on shorts and short-sleeve shirts and enjoy everything the spring (and summer) months bring in the great outdoors.
If duty calls you to Presidio of Monterey, you’re heading to paradise! Sandy beaches, a vibrant community, and a multitude of attractions and amenities are waiting for you. The post is located near the ocean! Pebble Beach is a must-see, of course, with its world-famous golf course and beautiful coastline. Garrapata Beach is also a great option for observing local wildlife. There are over 110 species of birds living in this coastal woodland.
Whether you are visiting Fort Hamilton for the weekend, on PCS, or calling it home for the next few years, there are a variety of activities and places to visit in the Brooklyn neighborhood. The trouble will be deciding what to do first. Home to over 2.5 million people, Brooklyn is a cultural epicenter. And because of this diversity, Brooklyn has many interesting things to offer.

From the moment we glimpsed the Jekyll Island Club and Historic District and the striking natural beauty of the island, I knew we had found a very special place. The more I learned of the history of Jekyll Island, the more I knew we were not alone in our discovery. Teeming with interesting history, this island’s colorful background made for an enchanting visit.

I’m talking about our national parks, most of which offer a range of activities, from just plain fun, to educational, to knock-your-socks-off gorgeous hikes in nature. An international flight with kids is challenging. This is our first week back in the United States, and after two years of being away, it is an amazing feeling! This has been our most difficult move yet. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong.
You may be thinking, “’Find the magic?’ Magic is for kids.”

Every summer, we take a road trip. One of our favorite splurge locations? Disney World! While we can’t get enough of the mouse house, we are often forced to drive extremely long distances to get there.
As this post is going live, my husband and I will be getting ready to pack up our PODS trailer and head off on our first big PCS journey (and by big, I mean 400 miles, so really, not so big, but big enough to require some prep). We’re making things a little more entertaining for ourselves by choosing to do a partial PPM (Personally Procured Move), since we’re apparently gluttons for punishment and enjoy lugging boxes every year or so. What that means is we’ll be driving the distance from Long Island up to his family in the Adirondacks to visit, then traversing the state of New York to get to Fort Drum.
