Running is My Stress Relief and My Passion

Running can be many things to many people, and to Billy Joinville it is his both his stress relief and his passion. Billy hails from James H. Bennett High School of Salisbury, Maryland and takes us back to his middle school years as he reflects on how he found his passion for running.

Grit, Resilience, and Determination Defines Sika Henry

The term resilience means to become stronger or healthy after something terrible happens, but the word resilience may not be adequate to describe Sika Henry. In 2019 she suffered a traumatic bike accident that would have ended all career goals for most people. However, through grit and determination, Sika defied the odds and traveled a road to recovery.

The Running Spouse

I could start with “What is a military spouse?” but I would soon be running (no pun intended) out of space.  A military spouse must adapt to changing schedules and develop creative ways of doing things. There will be  times when one parent must become both parents. They will have to say the following, “Be careful, and I will miss you, and I love you.”

Take a Chance on Yourself

Adam Peterman of Montana was ranked eighth Ultrarunner of the Year in 2021. He is fulfilling his dreams and has returned to his alma mater where he began at Hellgate High School as the coach.

Adam shares his philosophy about running.

Determination to Excel

Recently, we had the opportunity to hear from Sarah Cummings and now we get to read comments from her biggest supporter, her sister, Marisa. The determination to excel is clearly in the family.

Ultramarathons: The Epic Adventure

Sarah has an attraction to the ultramarathons. “I love the unknown of longer races. I love to adventure and explore. Running an ultramarathon is a great excuse to explore nature and participate in an epic adventure. I love the balance required in ultras of staying in the moment (particularly on technical trails) while also thinking to the later stages of the race and making sure you are expending energy and fueling/hydrating in a way that will be sustainable.”
