In the flurry of pre-interview preparation, it’s easy to dismiss the idea of making plans for what comes next. While you’re mid-interview prep, it may seem like there will never be a “next”—for all you know, you could be preparing forever, like some kind of job market Groundhog Day. Though it may seem impossible, there will be a time when your interview is over and you’re waiting to hear back, wondering why the whole process has to take so long.
A couple of weeks ago my wife, Joy, and I dropped our son off at the dorm for his freshman year of college.
Yikes!
It seems like yesterday we were walking him to the bus stop so he could ride to kindergarten with his friends from the neighborhood. We’ve been through some trials and tribulations raising our kids, but I’m really glad that Joy and I could do it together.
As parents, you want to get your children set up on the right path. You want to ensure that, should rough times fall upon you or your career, your child’s future is protected. It’s a scary thought, but one you no doubt must consider. It is one of your only means of protecting your child from the trials and tribulations that could potentially come your way, and you don’t want your children to suffer negatively as a consequence of your misfortune.
The problem is, some people set up custodial accounts for flagrant uses. For instance, some parents have used their children’s accounts to qualify for a lower tax bracket. However, most people use custodial accounts as they’re meant to be used; which is to say, they put money aside for their child for when they come of age—like a preemptive savings account. That’s a good thing!
As summer turns to fall, it seems like the world gets ready to go back to school. When was the last time you joined in the back-to-school excitement for your own education, not just as a support to children or a spouse? If getting or finishing an education has been on your bucket list, there’s no time like the present to hit the books and accomplish your dreams.
Even the most positive people among us experience feeling down and discouraged at times due to personal circumstances or events in the world that affect us collectively. Judging from the news reports, the world has seemingly descended into chaos on more days than not.
Even if we try to avoid the news reports and images, our social media newsfeeds are often filled with opinions and rants about anything and everything imaginable.
Buying a car is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make, which is why it’s important to make smart decisions during the selection and purchasing process. We all know that we have to shop around and compare prices when buying a car, but there’s more work that has to be done.
