Using School Cancellation to Teach Different Curriculum

Using School Cancellation to Teach Different Curriculum

In many parts of the country and world, even on military installations, school is closed and likely to be closed for the rest of the school year. Parents and teachers are rightfully concerned that this will lead to a significant regression in learning, resulting in lowered scores on state standardized tests.

However, having kids at home, and for many of you that are now homebound as well, “no school” creates opportunities for enhanced learning, teaching kids things that are not typically taught in school, lifetime lessons and values that will endure long after memorizing multiplication tables.

The Hardest Interview Question is My Favorite One

The Hardest Interview Question is My Favorite One

Do you want to know a secret? I certainly want to tell it. Shout it even.

I just interviewed for my dream job!

Now that the interview is over, the jig is up and I am ready to spill out so much about my dream job interview.

The first time I applied for this job, I was not selected for an interview and it was pretty crushing. Was my resume not right? Do I have the wrong degree? Maybe I submitted my application at a weird hour of the day and they didn’t like the timestamp. I guessed so many reasons why I didn’t get an interview.

Fast forward six months—six whole months!—and the same job was posted again.

I applied. Again.

Effective Leadership: The Art of Mentoring

If you were able to apply any of the previous information to your current leadership role, we encourage you to take your leadership abilities one step further and explore the art of mentorship.

A mentor is a trusted person who advises and serves as a role model in a specific field of expertise. The purpose of a mentor is to develop, encourage, and allow the mentee to achieve their goals with their mentor’s support.

Have you ever been given the opportunity to be mentored? If so, think back to how the relationship began. Did you grow and bloom as an individual with your mentor’s guidance?

I’ve had several mentors throughout my life—professional mentors and life mentors.
