If you’re due for a PCS this spring, in just a few weeks, you’re going to say goodbye to your home and pack up for a new duty station. You may realize you spent all your time saying “I’ll do it later” and forgot to actually live locally at your current duty station. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there! This month, I want to introduce you to Rochelle Sceats-Basil, as she shares her thoughts and desires. Her chosen sport is running, but remember that sports are still sports even when running isn’t involved. Last month’s column about golf is a great example of this!
Service members are quick on their feet and used to making logical but quick decisions. This is why homeowners looking to sell this PCS season need to be on their game for prepping their house for sale. Military families tend to look for time-efficient qualities when searching for their next home, because short timelines are the rule.
I would like to share some comments with you about a newfound (to me) sport. I was asked if I play golf. Is golf a sport? I wasn’t sure.
My response was that when I want to dig a hole, I use a shovel. I must admit this sparked a lively conversation. When you see the following terms: bogey, birdie, condor, and eagle, what do you think about? At first, I was thinking about wildlife.
“What’s been your favorite duty station?”
For a long time, my saccharine answer when asked the above question was, “Wherever I live!” In an effort to set a good example and not complain in front of my kids, put my best foot forward, and keep a positive attitude, it was a mantra I’d learned to live by.
