In light of National Military Appreciation month, did you know there are tons of websites dedicated just to military spouses? Not until recently did I start doing research and was overwhelmed with the sites that were out there to support spouses like us who travel, move, support our families, work, and do it all over again.
Military Life
Oh… Military Life! This is likely what brought you to Mission: Milspouse in the first place. It is what binds the military community together with its wildly unique lifestyle.
Whether you are here to learn how to better live in this military life, how to support a loved one who is living the military lifestyle, or to see if this lifestyle is something you may like to be a part of, you have come to the right place.
Here at Mission: Milispouse the military lifestyle is what inspires us, drives our home lives, our moves, and our service member’s career, and gives us a camaraderie like no other. So welcome friend, take a seat and read more about all things that make us who we are and make the military lifestyle a life like no other!
Find Joy in Your PCS by Dancing in the Rain
Not proud of my mindset, I began preparing for our 13th move while still unpacking from the 12th.
I was in the garage unwrapping pictures I never bothered to unpack from the last move (just a mere 10 months ago), and I was feeling a little overwhelmed and a whole lot irritated. After unwrapping a few items that resulted in instant remorse for not trashing them at the last duty station, I came across a small wooden sign that read:
13 Reasons You Should Take the #BSFSurvey
The annual Military Lifestyle Survey, from the nonprofit Blue Star Families, is open and taking responses until May 25. But why should you contribute to the survey?
Recon Rendezvous: Milspouse Marriage Advice (Part 4)
Alas, here we are—the final chapter of our milspouse marriage advice miniseries. (Don’t miss Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3). I’ve waited until the end to share my personal milspouse marriage advice, mainly because patience is a virtue (and as a milspouse, I always need an opportunity to practice that!).
6 Reasons the Military Makes Me Smile
As a child, spouse, and parent, the military has and always will give me reasons to cry and frown. It’s natural as a human being to struggle with life-altering decisions made without your consent.
Recently, however, I’ve pondered how we as spouses and parents can teach our friends, families, and children how to find reasons the military makes us smile when we’re feeling down:
To All the Friends I’ve Had Before
We are about to enter the prime PCS season, which means that some of you may be prepping for a big move, or you may be prepping to say your heartfelt, bitter “see you laters” (because, fortunately, there’s no such thing as “goodbye” in this life).
This is a hard time for a lot of us, especially if we are the ones staying put while the friends around us move on. This time of year always makes me reflect on the gift of military spouse friendships, as a number of my friends are leaving this summer.
