Here at Mission: Milspouse, we’ve faced our fair share of relocations, DITYs, government moves, overseas stints, and everything in between. We’ve been there and done that, and we have the stickers to prove it.
With all that experience, we know how stressful it can be. Packing and loading mean moving all of your belongings—special things, irreplaceable things—and none of us really want things broken or damaged. While we can’t ensure there won’t be casualties of PCS, we can help you prepare to make the move a little smoother.

Unfortunately, and with a sigh, not any of our “top three choices” made the cut.
The military decided to plant me in Mississippi back in November 2015. Plant? Why, yes. As military spouses, you may have been offered the sage advice to “bloom where you’re planted” at least once or twice before. How do you measure how much you’ve bloomed or if you’re even budding?
Have you ever known a stress-free PCS? Chances are, you haven’t. There’s so much to coordinate with any military move. You’re often consumed with making big decisions like choosing to sell or rent your current home and busy filing paperwork to transfer schools, doctors, and vets. Not to mention taking the time to research your new duty station while striving to maintain any bit of normalcy you can! And that’s with a regular PCS move. But when you’re faced with an overseas move, the chaos takes on a whole new level, and the term overwhelming becomes an understatement.
Scrolling homes for sale can be so much fun: Admiring photos of pristine white kitchens, envisioning yourself floating in a high-end backyard oasis pool, and mentally reconfiguring the master closet to add an island. These visions of grandeur, they’re all part of the home shopping process. After all, you’re buying a dream, right? Eh. Perhaps. That’s a big question, determining how much home you should buy.
It’s that time of year again! When “the lists” are sent out by branch managers to our service members with location and job options for an impending PCS move. Five months from now, our family will embark on yet another PCS (also known as “Arnett Adventure”) to add to our family historical chronicles.
I’m a little more than a week into our new duty station. We arrived at Fort Bragg.
It hasn’t been an easy transition for me.
