Dear, Field Problems:
How do you combat loneliness in the military life?
Stephanie; Fort Hood, TX; dual-military spouse
While Halloween is not my favorite holiday of the year, it is one that I always look forward to, as it marks the start of the holiday season. I know that Christmas decor has been up and for sale in the stores for well over a month now, but to me, it is not really the holiday season until Halloween. Thanksgiving is a little more than three weeks away, and Christmas will soon follow.
This past week, we reached the six-month mark of this deployment. We’re halfway to the finish! Halfway to Daddy being home. Halfway to feeling his arms wrapped around me again. Halfway to not solo-parenting anymore!
We’ve reached six months with only a few bumps along the way, and I’m incredibly impressed and amazed that we are actually here.
Dear, Field Problems:
I keep hearing about all of these financial benefits that we should be taking advantage of while my husband is deployed, but I haven’t got a clue where to find out more information on what they are. Can you help?
Teresa; Aberdeen, MD; National Guard spouse
Every military spouse knows hope. Formally defined, hope is the belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one’s life and implies that the outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary. From PCS to deployments, funny moments to serious ones, hope is the epicenter of our military way of life.
Eric—
Hi. Well, it’s almost here, the end of this long deployment. Of all the times I thought, “how will I feel when he comes home?” or “wonder what I’m gonna want to say in that last letter,” I never really knew what I know now, in this moment.
Right now, I am simply proud.
Dear, Field Problems:
I am expecting my fiancé back next month for his two weeks of R&R. I was interested in hearing topics on ideas for R&R and the best ways to spend time together without it being too overwhelming or underwhelming for that matter.
Erika; California; Army Reserve fiancée
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, the time of the year that your heart is warmed with thanks as you focus on the blessings you’ve been given as the year has passed by. One of the blessings I am counting is that our military journey has afforded us an extended family that spans the globe.
Our deployment is quickly coming to an end, so I wanted to share the top 10 signs your soldier is on his way home:
