Ah, February.

A whole month of this new year has quickly passed by, and it’s now been two months since my husband returned from Iraq. It seems like just yesterday we were anxiously awaiting his return in that cold airplane hangar. And then there are other days when it feels like he has been home forever and that the long deployment was only a bad dream.

No, I’m Not Okay, Thank You Very Much

After about six years of being a milspouse, I just realized something today.

I don’t have to be okay.

This for me was a huge epiphany. My husband deployed in January, and I’ve been striving since then to carry on. You know, pay the bills, keep the house maintained, keep the yard neat, the vehicles maintained, nurture and teach our sons—and smile.
