Has this heat melted us all away? I feel fried and refried. Body and soul. I can’t be the only one. And, I’m a stay-at-home parent; I don’t want to even begin thinking about bosses, commutes, and demanding deadlines all in the proper (un-summer friendly) work attire. Popsicles and flip-flops have become more my style.
But yet, even with this laissez faire lifestyle, I’m struggling a little bit with the overloaded kitchen sink, sticky fingers, and the constant clutter and chatter that goes with summer-at-home kids. So, I’ve spent a few minutes brainstorming some ideas that should help me, and hopefully you, through the rest of these sizzling summer days.

New Mother Must Return to Work Soon

Dear Mr. Dad: My husband and I just had a baby two months ago. I’ve been off work under the Family Leave Act until now and would like to take the remaining four or five weeks. But, unfortunately, we really need my salary to make ends meet. The prospect of leaving my baby (my husband needs to work full-time too) is making me miserable. I’m feeling like a terrible mother and I have no idea what I can do to feel better about this situation.

I know it was the right thing to do—my current classes are pretty difficult, Chris has a bunch of training events coming up, and I’ll be starting a new internship in May, but the second I signed my name on the enrollment sheet, it hit me.
