News 6 Report: Learning About MySTeP

Stars and Stripes recently shared information regarding a new program from the Pentagon called Military Spouse Transition Program, or MySTeP. The program will be rolled out this month and will offer short videos to help military spouses through all stages of their service member’s military career.

MySTeP focuses on all stages of military life and divides spouses into categories: New spouses, mid-career spouses, and those preparing to transition. These three categories are labeled as, “Stepping In,” “Stepping Through,” and “Stepping Beyond.”

The new program aims to empower spouses from the first day they step into military life until the day their spouse transitions or separates. The MySTeP program focuses on a wide variety of topics to help spouses get their bearings and navigate military life.

AWTR Show #699: Hope For The Warriors

Hope For The Warriors was founded by military families stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, in 2006 as they witnessed firsthand the effects war imparts on service members and their families. Nationally, Hope For The Warriors provides comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources. In this episode, Brianne Sampson of HFTW will discuss how the nonprofit specifically targets issues that come with PTSD.

Ask Yourself, Why Not Today?

When married to a service member, you may sometimes feel like you take a backseat in military life. You put a lot of your own energy behind your service member spouse, encouraging, planning, packing, and moving, among other things. You celebrate the promotions, the graduations, getting that perfect duty station… But sometimes, as a spouse, you find yourself wanting more. You may find yourself asking, is it my turn yet?

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone not only helped you answer a “why not” question, but helped you achieve even one small step toward that goal?
