Me? Lead? You’ve Got the Wrong Person!

Me? Lead? You’ve Got the Wrong Person!

Over the last two weeks, I had the opportunity to lead a training team for a major corporation in Dubai.

As a presentation and communication skills trainer, I’ve led teams in lots of cities here in the states. But now I was taking a team of five people more than 7,800 miles away.

What if something went wrong?

5 Unconventional Ways to Give Back

5 Unconventional Ways to Give Back

The season of giving is upon on, and this time of year tends to hit military families harder, especially if our service members won’t be around to celebrate with us. But for many Americans, this season is yet another reminder of everything they aren’t able to have, whether that be food on the table, gifts for their children, or a roof over their heads. This is, however, a time for us to be thankful for all that the military helps provides for our families and think about giving back to the communities we’re living among, at home and abroad, because the holidays are more about your presence than the presents.

Volunteering: A Resolution You Can Keep

Volunteering: A Resolution You Can Keep

Many people see the new year as a chance to make resolutions for the year to come. Some want to lose weight, and others want to change careers or save more money. Field Problem: Support Group Revival 101

Dear, Field Problems:

I am a veteran, a spouse of an active duty soldier, and a mom of two children. I also work as a Soldier and Family Readiness Group Advisor at Fort Bragg. One of our “field problems” is how to revive our SFRG so that family members can get the support they need. We surveyed family members and found people really want the social aspect, not the learning aspect, which is surprising to me. How do we achieve both?

52 Ways To Say Thank You To Volunteers

52 Ways To Say Thank You To Volunteers

The Army is no stranger to the volunteer workforce. At some point in your military “career,” you either volunteer or get “volun-told,” as the Army likes to call it, to do something, but what if you’re the leader of volunteers? What can you do to make sure they feel appreciated? What can you do to recognize their contributions? Here are 52 fabulously fun and creative ways to recognize your volunteers all year long. They’re so easy to do, and the rewards are two-fold. You’ll have more productive and happier volunteers just because you took the time to say “thanks.”
