Reasons for Milspouse Pride: Part 1

Reasons for Milspouse Pride: Part 1

I have a confession to make.

Sometimes, in the day-to-day shenanigans that is military spouse life, I forget about the pride that comes with this calling.

And I don’t mean pride like, “Look at me, I’m so awesome” pride; more like, “Wow. My spouse is the bomb dot com. This life can be hard, but I sure am proud of what my service members is doing for our country/world/family.”

Maybe you find yourself sometimes forgetting the pride part of this milspouse ride.

My Christmas Meaning: A Milspouse Poem

My Christmas Meaning: A Milspouse Poem

I am no Emily Dickinson. Definitely not even close to Robert Frost. And even though I might add a “-th” to random words and say “thou” or “thee” on occasion (just because I can), I will never be a great playwright or poet like William Shakespeare. Today, I would like to share what Christmas means to me by way of a milspouse poem. This won’t be winning any poetry awards anytime soon, but if I have fun writing it (and you get just a tiny bit of enjoyment out of reading it), then I vote yes.

Humorous Holiday Hacks: Round #3

Humorous Holiday Hacks: Round #3

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, not just because the holidays make us feel all warm, fuzzy, and snuggly and give us the perfect excuse to eat #AllTheThings, but because I have a new reason to create yet another “batch” of humorous holiday hacks.

These hacks are tips and tricks that, while entertaining, may or may not make your holiday season easier. (But hey, if it puts a smile on your face, that’s something, right?)

The “Missing” Factor

The “Missing” Factor

We’ve all heard that quote, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” Several years ago, this quote ticked me off. Mainly because I wanted my dearest, darling, most-handsomest-stud-of-a-new-husband around all the time. I didn’t want to spend my time missing him, regardless of what I could gain from that.

Best Compliment Ever: The Ultimate Battle Buddy

Best Compliment Ever: The Ultimate Battle Buddy

As a military spouse, I am a compliment-soaker-upper. No, I don’t mean from the random passersby who give awkward backward compliments of “You’re so strong. I don’t know how you do it.”

I’m talking about soaking up compliments from my husband, so I can stockpile them in my brain/heart for when he’s away doing stuff for his Army job.

3 Tips for Creating False Motivation

3 Tips for Creating False Motivation

Normally, I’m a very motivated person. I’m a go-er. A do-er. A get-things-done-er. But sometimes, I lose my motivation. Like when we are facing a cross-country PCS that we’re a less than excited about during first trimester of pregnancy practically knocking me off my feet.

Don’t worry, this isn’t a whiny complaining post. I’m grateful for this new season and excited that the State of my Uterus is currently occupied with Tiny Human Numero Dos.

But getting ready for this PCS was quite a hairy beast of a task.
