HH6

One of the most important parts of supporting your service member as they serve our country is “holding down the fort” (See also: running a smooth, loving, and supportive home life for you and your family, while keeping all things going in your service member’s absence). Easy peasy, right? Sometimes, not so much.

With this category, we cover everything behind the scenes, such as organization, communication, marriage, parenting, overcoming trials, and just some good ole fashioned humor.

Join us as we embark on figuring out the home-life balance as a milspouse and find ways to thrive and excel! No matter what your life at home looks like, one of our Experience Bloggers or Command Team members has probably been in a similar situation and is here to share their triumphs, lessons, and laughs along the way.

The Great Camp-In

The Great Camp-In

Six years ago, when my oldest was only a wee Kindergartener, I decided to put her in Girl Scouts so she could get some social interaction with kids her own age. I Mom So Hard

A few weeks ago, I was frantically cleaning up from my three bigger kids’ lunch disaster. I sent them outside in our fenced-in yard, and I only had a few minutes to finish sweeping before the baby would cry to nurse and the other kids would be banging on the door to be let back in.

I hadn’t quite finished cleaning when I saw the baby swiftly Army crawling across the floor, headed toward an area he shouldn’t be. When I ran to get him, I saw something strange on his back and looked closer.

Yuck!

Imposter Syndrome: Am I Doing Homeschool Right?

Imposter Syndrome: Am I Doing Homeschool Right?

As a homeschool veteran of eight years, I get a lot of friends, neighbors, and even complete strangers who reach out to me to ask about what real homeschool is like. They say they are looking for advice, but almost always the conversation ends with me reassuring them that they are fully capable of teaching their children and being successful at homeschooling.

Very much like a favorite topic of mine when I’m consulting with new entrepreneurs, I believe these homeschool parents suffer from a well-known doubt in oneself that we call “imposter syndrome.”

Finding the American Pioneering Spirit

Finding the American Pioneering Spirit

If you are looking for the American pioneering spirit, you can find it all around you as a military spouse.

During a recent luncheon with my community and spouses’ club, I had the pleasure of meeting two new Army spouses. These two ladies were a perfect blend of similar and differing Army experiences. Martha was at her second duty station, like myself, and Amanda had moved many times.

All three of us have children, and the discussion turned to the unique experiences our children have while one or both of their parents serve in the Armed Forces.
