Back-to-school marketing, shopping, and scheduling are all stacked against you. Here’s how it all got started.
HH6
One of the most important parts of supporting your service member as they serve our country is “holding down the fort” (See also: running a smooth, loving, and supportive home life for you and your family, while keeping all things going in your service member’s absence). Easy peasy, right? Sometimes, not so much.
With this category, we cover everything behind the scenes, such as organization, communication, marriage, parenting, overcoming trials, and just some good ole fashioned humor.
Join us as we embark on figuring out the home-life balance as a milspouse and find ways to thrive and excel! No matter what your life at home looks like, one of our Experience Bloggers or Command Team members has probably been in a similar situation and is here to share their triumphs, lessons, and laughs along the way.
The Binder
I have moved every 9 months to 3 years, my entire life. People ask all the time, ’How many times have you moved?” To be honest, I have never counted. To many, it’s a badge of honor.
Dear Military NICU Mom
Dear Military NICU Mom, I see you. I see that your minutes feel like days and that your world is falling apart around you. I see that you feel crushed by the weight of the unknowns and are full of fear, anger, sadness, isolation, and anticipation.
Our First Essay Contest Across the Service Branches
So, We did a thing over here at Army Wife Network. We held an essay contest across all branches of the military as well as the Department of Defense civilian population. The contest theme was “Proud to Be” and we asked participants to describe why they are proud to be a spouse or loved one of a service member.
Thankful Through Deployments
Yes, you read that title correctly. Thankful Through Deployments. Seriously? What, in all of the deployment training, preparation and packing, family separation for six, nine, maybe twelve or more months of tour, and the reintegration back, is there to be thankful for?!
Forever in Ziplocks and Totes
If you walk into a military family’s home during a PCS, you will find a good portion of their belongings squished into Ziplock bags, or stuffed into large, plastic totes. These items are an absolute necessity to keep liquids from leaking, and objects to remain clean, protected, organized, and maybe even color-coded. I sincerely love Ziplocks and totes! I can’t imagine my life without the use of them…because they are not only a necessity during our PCSes, but they are also still a part of my daily life.
