Last month I introduced myself as a helper, an encourager, and a professional volunteer. This month I am the one needing the help. I am grateful to have made so many deep connections with throughout these past 16 years serving as an Army Wife, and I loved how my friends and I could pick up anytime and start right where we left off.
We’ve all been there, last-minute PCS orders, canceled leave, rescheduled deployment dates. As a military spouse, I write everything on my calendar in pencil! Homeschooling provides the flexibility necessary for military families with our ever-changing, on-the-go lifestyle.
Last month, I showed you how I organize my kid’s outgrown items and store them for an eventual Baby #2. It’s no secret babies and toddlers have a LOT of stuff at any given point. So what do I do with the myriad of items he’s currently wearing, using, and playing with in a small house?? Here are some tips you can take from my own home’s organization.
I’ve been writing about deployment and reintegration a lot. It’s my life right now, and it’s harder than I anticipated. I thought it would be magically easy, since my husband and I had some key conversations to prepare us for the changes that occurred for all of us while he was gone.
I could start with “What is a military spouse?” but I would soon be running (no pun intended) out of space. A military spouse must adapt to changing schedules and develop creative ways of doing things. There will be times when one parent must become both parents. They will have to say the following, “Be careful, and I will miss you, and I love you.”
Every year, I get “Extra” jazzed about the month of April for many reasons. The first is that we kick off the month with my favorite holiday, April Fool’s Day. On this day, I plot healthy pranks and jokes on loved ones not to mention that it’s one of my BFF’s birthdays (Happiest of Birthdays, beautiful Kat).
