Here at Mission: Milspouse, we’ve faced our fair share of relocations, DITYs, government moves, overseas stints, and everything in between. We’ve been there and done that, and we have the stickers to prove it.
With all that experience, we know how stressful it can be. Packing and loading mean moving all of your belongings—special things, irreplaceable things—and none of us really want things broken or damaged. While we can’t ensure there won’t be casualties of PCS, we can help you prepare to make the move a little smoother.

March already, and time for another resolution!
Last month, I was able to finish 10 crochet projects as part of my “Finish up February,” which sounds impressive, but when I’m being honest with you, 90% of the finishing was just weaving in the loose ends of yarn—the most tedious and boring part of the process.
If duty calls you to Presidio of Monterey, you’re heading to paradise! Sandy beaches, a vibrant community, and a multitude of attractions and amenities are waiting for you. The post is located near the ocean! Pebble Beach is a must-see, of course, with its world-famous golf course and beautiful coastline. Garrapata Beach is also a great option for observing local wildlife. There are over 110 species of birds living in this coastal woodland.
Whether you are visiting Fort Hamilton for the weekend, on PCS, or calling it home for the next few years, there are a variety of activities and places to visit in the Brooklyn neighborhood. The trouble will be deciding what to do first. Home to over 2.5 million people, Brooklyn is a cultural epicenter. And because of this diversity, Brooklyn has many interesting things to offer.
With their many moves, most military families develop a course of action, one that likely engenders more scrutiny for improvement than any other element of military family life. We have our own, and though our movers think we’re strange, my little military family sees the bright side of a PCS.
Can you believe we’re already days away from 2015? Neither can I! It seems like this year has flown by, and now that it’s practically behind me, I’m starting to look ahead for what the new year will bring, and trying to embrace the future.
Moving around is rarely easy for military families, but it seems like it’s especially tough around the end of the year, when you want to feel at home with your family in the midst of the hectic holiday season. Whether you have just moved or are about to, what can you do to make your rental property more inviting and festive? How can you turn your temporary home into a comforting, welcoming place where you’ll still be able to make treasured memories?
