If you think moving is stressful for you, imagine how confusing it can be for your pets. Everything that is familiar to them—the potted plants they sniffed daily, the comfy couch they weren’t allowed on, the kids’ shoes they stumbled over by the front door—gets packed up and taken away. Then, they’re cooped up in their carrier in the back of the car for a long road trip. In the short term, it is a bit more stressful to PCS when your pets are along for the ride. But in the long term, they make moving more enjoyable for everyone.
I wanted to share with you a little secret and a fear I have as a military spouse.

I’m completely scared out of my mind that I won’t be able to continue my career at my husband’s next post, and more importantly, keep my current position as a public relations coordinator.
As most of you know Team Crooks just relocated to Lantana, Texas, a civilian community/special assignment near Denton. We love our neighborhood; it’s beautiful. The only problem is that almost everyone here is new due to the homes being new construction. It was the first time we’ve moved somewhere and not been welcomed by a neighbor.
Military families are professionals when it comes to making a house a home. Whether residing in on-base or off-base military housing, those living the military lifestyle have figured out creative means to repurpose the curtains from one home into throw pillows in their next home. The creativity would impress even the most seasoned interior decorators.
