Not Your Average Deployment Playlist

During my husband’s past four deployments and other various military separations, the thing that’s kept us connected the most is music. From CDs to Spotify accounts, our methods have changed, but the tradition and idea of a deployment playlist has not.

He makes a playlist, I make a playlist, and we exchange them, and it keeps us going while he’s away. This article will be short and to the point and will be all about highlighting our go-to going-away favorites. Give a listen and pair them with a good tub of Ben and Jerrys or some Chardonnay. Enjoy!

“The Wind” by Zac Brown Band

“Close your eyes, babe

Take a breath

Say my name and I’ll be there

My love will find you anywhere

Anywhere, my love”

“Home We’ll Go” by Steve Akoi

“So take my hand and home we’ll go”

“Vanilla Twilight” by Owl City

“The silence isn’t so bad,

Til I look at my hands and feel sad

Because the spaces between my fingers

Are right where yours fit perfectly”

“Slide” by Goo Goo Dolls

Without you it ain’t a lot

I got everything

With you everything”

“Since we met I feel a lightness in my step

You’re miles away but I still feel you

Anywhere I go there you are”

And that’s a wrap! I hope you enjoyed this little peek into the hub’s and my little deployment bubble, and I hope it gave you some inspiration for your own. I would love to hear some of your favorites. Drop them in the comments, and I’ll give them a listen!

And remember. You’re strong, beautiful, and brave. You’ve got this.

Supporting Our Military Children

One thing that has been most important to me, as a military spouse, is figuring out how to best do this life while supporting our children with the changes and difficulties. When my children were very small, there were many times that my husband was away, and I had to parent my children alone.
