Run Farther & Faster with Julie Sapper and Lisa Levin.
I met up with Julie Sapper and Lisa Levin, Co-Founders of Run Farther & Faster, a coaching company that provides remote 1:1 coaching to runners of all levels around the world, along with corporate wellness coaching to employees at nonprofit, government and private sector entities.
They are also the co-hosts of the Run Farther & Faster Podcast. I am here to tell you that your search is over. There is no magic pill to make you healthy. As you read the following, think about making a commitment to yourself. Julie and Lisa offer the coaching to assist you in reaching your goals.
There are three words that will lead to success: consistent, persistent, and persistent.
What was that spark which placed both of you on your current journey?
We both began running in law school and soon learned how critical running was to stress management. As a bonus, we both realized that we enjoyed racing and challenging ourselves athletically outside of the practice of law.
About ten years after we started running, we each separately obtained our RRCA coaching certifications and met at a race and realized we had so much in common as lawyers, moms, and runners. Our experiences at balancing running with parenting and careers led us to form Run Farther & Faster to help other runners balance running with life while pursuing and achieving goals that once seemed impossible.
How do you keep up the passion?
We’ve been coaching runners for over fifteen years, and we love it so much because every runner has an interesting story, and we get to be a small part of their story.
The passion comes from our desire to help every runner achieve their full potential, and, in doing so, keep up with the latest running-related science and information so that we can provide our clients with the best coaching
possible.
Is there a reluctance for women to start an exercise program?
No women now form over half of the field at races, particularly marathons, and women’s sports are having a moment. We are here for it and happy to support women of all ages to continue to achieve their goals.
Where do you want to see Run Farther & Faster go?
We would love to do more public speaking to share the information we’ve gained over the last fifteen years of coaching with other runners and coaches. In addition, we would like to coach more corporate wellness programs to enhance
work-life and health for employees.
What are the qualities that you look for those who become coaches?
A coach should be open to continuing to learn, as information is always changing. A coach should be compassionate, flexible, nonjudgmental, and a problem solver.
A coach should be willing to meet runners where they are to ensure that each runner is progressing according to their individual level and goals. A coach should be a frequent and effective communicator.
Do you feel there are any barriers to the success of the movement?
YES! Great question–We used to say that running is a simple sport that only requires one piece of equipment–shoes.
However, this is not true.
Running requires safe and clear running routes, time, access to quality food, and access to health care in the event of injury, all of which are barriers to running.
What do the participants have to say…..
“Julie and Lisa taught me about strength training and nutrition to avoid injury, speed workouts to improve my cadence and efficiency, and mental toughness to keep pushing during races. I’d heard about the “running community” before I met them, but I never felt like part of that community until I joined Run Farther & Faster,” – stated Caetlin of Washington, D.C.

What do you want the readers to know about Lisa /Julie?
We are proud to have built our business over the last fifteen years, from a small local running group in Montgomery County, Maryland, to an international coaching business. We achieved this through our love of running, our strong bond with each other, and our motivation to help runners achieve goals they never thought were possible.
While building our business, we raised our five kids from toddlers to young adults, balanced the ordinary stresses of life in between, while also continuing to competitively run ourselves. We are grateful for the gift of running as athletes and business owners, and we are excited to continue our journey together.
