Sharing the Leadership Vision as AWN becomes M:M

Recently, AWN (Army Wife Network) made a HUGE announcement. After 17 years of podcasting (more than 950 episodes) and 12 years of blogging (2600 blogs) all things online, the leadership team is now expanding AWN and moving to nonprofit status with a public launch just this month!

From AWN to Mission:Milspouse

The organization started out mainly focused solely on the Army and Wives, but the history of information dissemination has evolved into supporting military spouses across all branches, all genders/experiences, and also includes military families at large, military children, plus servicemembers and veterans.

This nonprofit status has been in the vision and planning phase since 2019 and is spearheaded by AWN Executive Director Sharita Knoblach and her AMAZING leadership team.

Leadership and Vision

One of my most referred and beloved leadership books is by Ted Engstrom. Even though it was written before I was born, the rich discourse in “The Making of a Christian Leader: How to Develop Management and Human Relations Skills” has provided not only counsel to get the job done, but I’ve found solace and peace in various leaders I’ve encountered throughout the years which possess the much-needed qualities and skill sets from which Engstrom is the leading subject matter expert.

I’d like to help break this down for our readers and couple this initiative with a humble brag on our leadership as the word VISION comes to mind. The Christian leader demands vision and must not limit their vision – their capacity to look beyond the present is mandated. Engstrom adds:

“Vision imparts venturesomeness – the willingness to take fresh steps of faith when there is a seeming void beneath.”

You’ll never hear any pomp and circumstance spew from Sharita’s (our M:M leader), mouth because her foundation, motivation, and vision forward are rooted in her faith to take AWN to the next level.

The shared vision with the AWN leadership team is just as important in carrying out the mission. Sharita has clearly communicated, earned the trust and respect of her team and stakeholders.

This is how you do it!

Excellence in leadership manifests itself through relationships and connection with others, a virtue that allows exemplary leaders to showcase their ability and stand the test of time.AWN

I am grateful and blessed to be part of the AWN team and wanted to take this time to THANK the AWN leadership team and our most wonderful leader and Executive Director, Mrs. Sharita Knoblach, for taking AWN to the next level.

Indeed, the best is yet to come.

The Gift of Military Life: Why I Feel Lucky to Be a Military Spouse

I never imagined that one day I would be standing at the crossroads of challenge and opportunity, wearing the title of “military spouse” and feeling lucky. Yet, here I am, an Army wife of almost 12 years, married to a soldier, raising four incredible children (ages 10, 8, 6, and 4), and homeschooling them as we navigate the ever-changing journey of military life.
