Freshen Up Financially with First Command

As military spouses, “new” experiences, aren’t always new to us. It seems like every other day we’re facing something new: a new plan, a new duty station, a new season of milspouse life.

And, because military spouses are resilient to the core, we know how to embrace new opportunities and make the absolute best of it.

The same can be said for this new year.

4 Tips to Help You Decide How Much Home to Buy

Scrolling homes for sale can be so much fun: Admiring photos of pristine white kitchens, envisioning yourself floating in a high-end backyard oasis pool, and mentally reconfiguring the master closet to add an island. These visions of grandeur, they’re all part of the home shopping process. After all, you’re buying a dream, right? Eh. Perhaps. That’s a big question, determining how much home you should buy.

Be Kindness

Did you know that Feb. 17 is National Act of Kindness Day? I mean, honestly, every day is “a day,” but how great is this one?! It’s better than National Walk Around Things Day, National Lumpy Rug Day, and National Paper Bag Day (yes, I kid you not, these are actual “days” held on April 4, May 3, and July 12, respectively), but I digress.

Back to something a little more personally fulfilling.

New Year, Same You—With Style

Every year, like clockwork, we start planning our New Year’s resolutions. We vow to have more gym time, drink more water, read a few extra books, and possibly curb the usage of a certain four-letter word.

Personally, I have several resolutions spinning around in my mind—my list keeps getting longer every day. I want to work on getting healthier for a possible addition to our family (wow, did I just say that out loud?). I’d also like to be more present for my family as we gear up for a possible deployment—to cherish the moments we have together.

How to Thrive as an Introverted Milspouse

My husband and I are opposites in so many ways, but most noticeably when it comes to the introverted vs. extroverted rankings.

Phil’s extroversion has played well into his military career. One time, he was staying in the barracks at Fort McCoy where there were open-bay toilets. He said he sat so close to the next man on the toilet that he could read his newspaper and joke around while each man did his “business.”

I’m still horrified!

Running is 60% Mental, 40% Physical

We have reached the end of another year.

Throughout the year I have offered training tips and profiles of athletes from a variety of backgrounds. There are many training programs, but how do you know which one is right for you? To be honest you don’t know. There is no magic program just like there is no magic diet program.

Everything will begin with you and what it is that you want.

Promoting Positive PCS Energy

It’s that time of year again! When “the lists” are sent out by branch managers to our service members with location and job options for an impending PCS move. Five months from now, our family will embark on yet another PCS (also known as “Arnett Adventure”) to add to our family historical chronicles.
