For this week’s Milspouse Empowerment Moment, Molly gives us some tips for keeping in contact with your battle buddies no matter where they are.
Friendship: A Reason, Season, and a Lifetime
These are military friendships. They burn hard and fast. We don’t have time for long-term sustained experiences or the slow growth of friendship, and so our military life forces us to assume friendship “rules of engagement” and hard truths.
AWTR Show #818: In A Book Club Far Away
In A Book Club Far Away covers military spouse friendships. Some friendships are short-term & some forever. The Key is deciding if the friendship is worth it.
Farewell, My Friends
As a new military spouse eons ago, I was fascinated with the traditions and customs of the Army. In particular, the events known as “Hail and Farewell” ceremonies, where everyone gathers either formally or informally to welcome or say goodbye to those in a fellow organization.
AWTR Show #816: 77 Letters, Operation Morale Booster: Vietnam
Susan’s mom sent letters to 40 soldiers, including “Bob” sending 77 letters. These spiritual soulmates understood you need to change hearts to enable change.
Celebrating New Babies (From a Distance)
I never had a baby shower with my previous children, due to moving during every pregnancy. As an event planning enthusiast, I knew I wanted to have one when I became pregnant with baby number three.
AWTR Show #792: InDependent Wellness Summit (Giveaway)
Join Evie King as she chats about InDependent, founded by five military spouses who saw a need in the military community for a social wellness program and sought to fill it.
Mommy Blues: Can I Get a Connection?
Being a full-time mom is the greatest gift I could ask for. Some days may be hard, but generally, it turns around for the better. What no one seems to want to acknowledge is how lonely it is. In my case, feeling a bit extra lonely since my family just moved to a new area.
The house is beautiful and in a great location. The big plus about the property is that my husband and son enjoy living in the woods with land to run and play as much as they want. As for me, I prefer to have some friends to talk to other than my husband and toddler.
Battle Buddies Are Vital
I could not have done it alone.
The first time I ran a half marathon was a doozy. Living in Georgia at the time with two young kids, I felt a long way from my time in the Marine Corps when “fit” was my middle name. I was determined and, thankfully, so was my battle buddy.
