Looking for a job can be tough, especially when there’s so much information out there on the internet. There are lots of things you need to know about writing a good resume, getting ready for an interview, and finding job openings.
It can be challenging navigating the best resources to aid in the job search. Whether you are just starting your search, or are about to, here are 4 recommended resources to help you find the job you’re looking for.
1. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a social media platform, but with a networking twist. If you are making a career change, it gives you the opportunity to interact with professionals in your targeted field, collaborate with others, and get insights on companies you may be interested in.
Additionally, LinkedIn offers a comprehensive job board that includes millions of positions, including hybrid and remote work opportunities. As an added benefit, LinkedIn provides military spouses with one year of LinkedIn Premium membership for free.
2. Glassdoor.com
If you’re interested in finding out how much a particular job pays based on its title and location, Glassdoor is an excellent resource for conducting research. Not only does it provide valuable information on average salaries, but it also offers company reviews from both current and former employees who can report anonymously on their experiences and pay rates.
This data can be extremely helpful in determining your market value and negotiating your salary with potential employers. So, if you want to make informed decisions about your career and potential job opportunities, Glassdoor is an invaluable tool.
3. MyNextMove.com
Thinking about making a career change, but aren’t sure what fields would suit you? MyNextMove provides self-assessments you can take that will suggest careers based on your interests and experience as well as a comprehensive list of over 900 career options.
While I recommend using some form of self-assessment to clients who are uncertain about their career targets, it’s important to remember that these tools are not definitive and that ultimately you know yourself best.
So, take advantage of the valuable resources offered by MyNextMove, but also trust your instincts and stay true to your own goals and passions.
4. JobScan
Resume tailoring can be intimidating. It’s not always easy to know which keywords and skills to highlight to catch the employer’s attention. Fortunately, JobScan is here to help. With this online tool, you can have your resume reviewed to see how well it matches the requirements of a particular job posting.
JobScan will analyze the text of your resume and compare it to the job description, providing feedback on how well your skills and qualifications match up.
This site only provides 5 free scans, so use them wisely!
When it comes to job searching, there are countless websites out there that claim to have the secret to success.
While these resources can be helpful, it’s important to approach them with a critical eye and do your research to determine their credibility. Don’t rely on any one site or piece of advice as a definitive source.
Instead, use these tools as part of your overall job search strategy, and be sure to seek out multiple sources to get a well-rounded understanding of the job market and industry trends. With a thoughtful, strategic approach, and a willingness to put in the work, you’ll be well on your way to finding the job you want.
Best of luck in your job search!
