Living on a military installation, I sometimes feel a sense of wonder. I get to see the manicured lawns of my neighbors each day, as I look around and see the beautiful houses which uniformly line at least a dozen streets and remind me of what it must be like to live in suburbia.
Military Life
Oh… Military Life! This is likely what brought you to Mission: Milspouse in the first place. It is what binds the military community together with its wildly unique lifestyle.
Whether you are here to learn how to better live in this military life, how to support a loved one who is living the military lifestyle, or to see if this lifestyle is something you may like to be a part of, you have come to the right place.
Here at Mission: Milispouse the military lifestyle is what inspires us, drives our home lives, our moves, and our service member’s career, and gives us a camaraderie like no other. So welcome friend, take a seat and read more about all things that make us who we are and make the military lifestyle a life like no other!
If You Give a Mom an Hour
As the saying goes, a mother’s work is never finished. Between housework, kids, FRG things, and general life, it’s work! Here is our take on a childhood classic.
Bus Stop Conversations
In addition to this being our first time living on post, this past year was the first time I let my older daughter ride the school bus. She was so excited to have time with her friends before school. I was so excited that I could save money on gas.
Ms. Practicality over here.
Beyond saving gas, taking Izzy to the bus stop has had another profound impact on my life.
Organizing Your Thoughts for Retirement
We’re swiftly reaching that long-anticipated change in military status from active duty to retired. Wow.
What comes next? What do we do first? What do we do, period? There are so many questions that need to be answered when we make this change, not just from active to retired status, but from military to civilian, transient to permanent. Options change, opportunities change, everything changes.
The Army and Culture
One thing I’ve come to love about life in a military setting is that you get to meet people from just about everywhere. I grew up in northern Indiana, and for those of you who haven’t been there, no, it’s not all corn fields. I’m from South Bend, which was named for being on the south bend of the St. Joseph River. It’s most noted for being the home of Notre Dame and is where Studebaker cars were once manufactured.
