I firmly believe that military spouses are some of the most empowered, flexible, resourceful folks on the planet. Don’t believe me? I think 2020 proved it! We rolled with the punches, changing, dipping, ducking, and adapting, even if we might have put on a few pounds or developed a hypothetical eye twitch.
Seriously—we were planning around no-plan plans before it was cool. (Just kidding—the changing plans last year were not cool. Like, at all.)
The best (and by best, I mean most hilarious) lunch I’ve ever had from the commissary was macaroni and cheese. I’ve gotta hand it to these folks, really, because they got me pretty good. Now, if you know me, or have known me for more than five minutes, you know macaroni and cheese is my favorite food. I eat a lot of it and often…a habit I’ve had for years.
It’s that time again. Your service member received orders for another PCS, and on the neverending to-do list that accompanies the move is “find a new job.” You feel the dread and the flood of worry about having yet another gap on your resume.
I must have PCS on the brain because my family’s next relocation is just a few months around the corner. Thankfully, I can take my laptop and my job with me this time, but I’ve been in that uncertain situation before. It can be daunting to face job searching as a military spouse when we relocate so often.

Sweaters and boots, or flip flops and shorts?
As a social media manager, I use this-or-that posts to remind clients about options. And it works. People love to give you their preferences and tell you exactly what they want.
Resilience has been the key word for 2020. This year has brought us a pandemic, an economic crisis, an upheaval of normalcy, and so much more. Yet, through it all, we have persevered.
As James Lane Allen once said, “adversity does not build character, it reveals it.” This year, the nation—and the world—has experienced adversity.
The holidays can be an exciting time—the lights, the joy, the hope that permeates the atmosphere. The overall holiday experience can get even more revved up with the much-anticipated sports match-ups.
