Pretty much every military installation has drama. When spouses get to know each other, it can sometimes turn into something similar to a high school club. Not always does this occur, but there are some military spouses out there that like drama. From families being broken apart, to others being lonely and left out, it comes in all shapes and forms. Here are a few tips to survive the milspouse drama:
Relationships
There are countless relationships to balance in this milspouse life. Our kids, friends, neighbors, spouses coworkers, and of course, our service members!
Relationships need communication, compromise, and the ability to adapt. Command Team has decades worth of experience navigating these situations and share their professional and personal knowledge on various relationship topics.
Some topics include how to have thriving friendships, raise resilient kids, have a loving marriage and overcome obstacles with others and yourself. We want you to thrive in relationships because, in this milspouse life, we need support and community. So, join our Mission: Milspouse community and learn how to better relate to yours on this page.
Forward, March: Just a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T
There are a lot of layers to military spouse life.
It’s kind of like an onion. (Or, as Donkey from the movie Shrek insists, it’s like a parfait. Which sounds delicious. But I digress.)
Seriously, so many layers. It isn’t like the romantic homecoming love stories in the movies. Sure, we have our moments, but real life military marriage requires a lot more than a long kiss that makes your toes curl.
To All the Military Mamas
To all the Military Mamas taking motherhood “on the road” every two years, this post is for you.
Not Your Average Deployment Playlist
During my husband’s past four deployments and other various Army separations, the thing that has kept us connected the most is music. From CDs to Spotify accounts, our methods have changed, but the tradition has not.
He makes a playlist, I make a playlist, and we exchange them and it keeps us going while he is away. This article will be short and to the point, and will be all about highlighting our go-to going away favorites. Give a listen and pair them with a good tub of Ben and Jerrys or some Chardonnay. Enjoy!
Be Thankful For Your Military Family
I always knew that having a military family was important, but holy cow, I’ve never been more thankful for mine.
Sure, I was thankful for my neighbors who let me sit in their house for hours on a holiday morning when I locked myself out and my husband was away training.
How to Make Friends Fast in Military Life
Moving is almost always a given with military life. Quite frankly, I’ve been lucky to avoid it for our entire 10-year marriage with the exception of a move into a larger home, a total of five minutes from our first home.
Until now.
We’re unexpectedly PCSing 14 hours away. New state. New people. New everything.
