My oh my, how 2015 has flown by. I can hardly believe it’s already time for Halloween! While my husband is in Korea, I’m celebrating by decorating the outside of my house in preparation for passing out candy.

This year, I kept the decorations fairly simple. The majority of my decor came from The Dollar Tree. I love that I can find some quality things there for so little money. I chose some glow in the dark spiders and creepy cloth to go across the porch railing. On the windows I put up some pumpkin cutouts, and I made my own bats out of a black piece of poster board. I have some fun ghoulish window clings on the screen door, along with a motion activated skull wreath that likes to make noise as well.

Originally, I wanted to use spider webbing to go across the railing, but it wasn’t sticking very well, so it didn’t look great. To hold up to the very windy days we get this time of year, I used clear zip ties to attach all of the components so nothing would fall off or fly away.

If you haven’t decorated your house yet and don’t want to spend too much money, doing something simple like hanging lights or putting a few pumpkins out on the porch can liven up your outdoor space. I highly recommend zip ties if you have decorations that need to be hung outside on your railing or porch.

If you can’t manage it this year, you can get inexpensive decorations after Halloween. Most things are deeply discounted so the retailer can get rid of their inventory. I got my skull wreath last year after Halloween was over at the PX for just a few dollars while it was originally priced at close to $30.

I might get a fun headband with a witch hat, or some animal ears to dress up and pass out candy with. (You can also find these types of items at The Dollar Tree!) I’m not big into costumes anymore, but I still like to get into the holiday spirit.
