Summer is the time to try something new

August 15, 2024

In the last few years, summer has always been the time that my husband and I moved to a new place. This year, we moved in March, so we’re looking forward to enjoying our first summer here in New Mexico.

Being in a new place this summer gives us the opportunity to not only travel around a new part of the country, but also gives us a chance to explore and get to know our new city.

One thing that my husband and I have always done during a PCS is to look for fun or interesting things to do around the area we’re moving to.

This most recent move is the first time we’ve ever had the opportunity to choose where we were going to live, so we already had an idea of some of the things we wanted to do after we moved.

While we moved in the spring, summer is also a great time to move to a new place, because there are usually a lot of activities going on. Most cities have festivals, concerts, and other activities that happen during the summer when the weather is usually nicer and people often have more time off of work.

In our new neighborhood, some of our neighbors have planned cookouts throughout the summer and invited everyone in the neighborhood. This has been a great way for us to meet some of our neighbors, and has made us feel really welcome in the community.

Even if you’re not moving, summer is a great time to either try something new, or just take time to relax!

After spending so many of the last few summers moving and feeling stressed about being in a new place, I’m looking forward to starting to feel more at home and finding new things to do in New Mexico.

For anyone who is moving this summer, I hope it is as stress free as possible, and that you feel welcome in your new community and can find ways to have a fun and relaxing summer!
