When “Winter” Seems to Last Forever
ife is all about the seasons, and some seasons, like winter, seem to last forever.
Sorry if that sounded kind of corny or slightly cliche, but from where I’m sitting, it’s true—especially for military spouses.
We have seasons of joy. We have seasons of pain. We have seasons of hopeful anticipation. Of disappointment. Of frustration. Encouragement. Waiting. Challenge. Victory.
Yes, it’s all about the seasons.
Sometimes we have a season of “winter” that seems to last forever.
Developing a Positive Attitude Using Affirmations
Most of us know the importance of maintaining a positive attitude. There are serious benefits to optimism.
(Even More) Motivational Milspouse Mottos
I love happy endings. And today, we end our Motivational Milspouse Mottos series. Welcome to part three!
If you have just popped by, never fear. You can check out Part 1 and Part 2, then join us right back here. We will wait for you.
Hurry Up and Wait (and 3 Ways to Deal)
“Hurry up and wait is my favorite part of military life,” said no milspouse ever.
Ain’t that the truth?!
My family is currently in yet (another!) hurry up and wait season. And it is about as much fun as talking on the phone to TRICARE while shopping at the commissary on payday.
Gag. Me. With. A. Spoon.
10 Motivational Milspouse Mottos
We live in a world where slogans and mottos rule the roost. It is the way that companies, politicians, and organizations create their brand and subsequently promote it.
Don’t believe me? Test out your motto knowledge with the following (I bet you get most, if not all, of them correct on the first try.)
4 Self Care Tips for Military Spouses
It’s often been said that those who can’t do, teach. So, let me tell you what I can’t do. Relax. I’m told that it’s genetic—I’m like my grandmother, her mother before her, and so on. I come from a long, long line… of control freaks. Being a military spouse doesn’t seem like it would be compatible with being a control freak because our whole life seems to be one big change of plans.
However, it seems that there are more of us than you’d expect. I suppose the fact that we tend to be determined, goal-driven, laser-focused, (stubborn), and so on is a benefit to our lifestyle. We are fantastic house managers, business owners, life coaches, come up with plans A-F and occasionally to Z given the circumstance, and do it with an indisputable quickness and a smile.
My Journey to Embracing the No-Plan Plan
If you ever meet me, you will know in about the first 14 seconds that I am a planner.
Most of the time, that’s a good thing. I get stuff done in the most efficient way possible.
But occasionally, it gets me in a bit of trouble and causes some stress in my life. Especially as milspouse.
