New Seasons… New Possibilities
Thinking about my life as a Military spouse; new seasons always mean new possibilities. During certain seasons you may be preparing to pcs or just arriving at a new duty station or even transitioning to a new career.
The Duty Station Not Taken
Last week, I challenged my high school juniors to take Robert Frost’s most celebrated poem and write their own version. The assignment instructed them to write about being faced with a decision, something they were unsure of, but might change them in some way.
The only catch was that they had to follow the same rhyme scheme modeled in the poem, and they had to keep the last original line.
My Sensory Military Child
About 5.5 years ago I welcomed a child into this world, I’ll refer to him as “A.” He was born during the morning reveille; he must’ve already known not to be late for PT. In fact, he was two weeks early, already an overachiever! Born at 38 weeks and 0 days, my oldest fought his way into this world. His dad and I knew something was different about him from the time he kicked me so hard in utero that it looked like aliens had possessed my body. Little did we know, he would be our sensory seeking kiddo that would keep us on our toes for the rest of his life.
4 Steps to PCS with Your Professional License
Being a military spouse is hard. Trying to have a career in this constantly changing military family life is difficult. Throw in being employed in an occupational licensed career field and it is difficult to maintain employment as we continue down our path as a military spouse.
I am with you. Throughout most of my 16-year marriage I have worked in the real estate industry, in both licensed and unlicensed positions. Our family has made tough decisions to keep my career on track.
Gratitude: Being Thankful
I love the month of November. Fall is in full effect with the colors changing on the trees (or the cactus, depending on which state you live in), wearing sweaters and boots, and drinking hot cocoa.
I love this time of the year, where it seems everything is slowing down because it is dark earlier in the evening. Everyone is getting ready for Thanksgiving, and Christmas is right around the corner. Additionally, this is a time where many people are on social media posting what they are thankful for. I love it because it makes you pause and think about everyday blessings.
