Introducing: Forward, March!

Newsflash: Things are always changing in military spouse life. Okay, so maybe that doesn’t classify as “breaking news.” More like “Well, yeah… that’s no surprise.” But since things are constantly changing at AWN, we want to try and stay contemporary, and thus we would like to introduce a fresh, shiny, new blog series called “Forward, March!”

We not only want to talk the talk as military spouses but walk the walk. Or, in this case, march the march?

On the first of each month, I’ll share a new blog post in our “Forward, March!” series. Ideally, this will be a post that shares a less-than-normally talked about habit, tip, or trick for military spouses (and really, it can apply to all spouses everywhere). Potential ideas include being positive, providing service, giving, keeping a rein on the tongue (that’s one I’m still personally working on), flexibility, personal growth, you get the general idea.

(And speaking of ideas, if you have some that you would like to see showcased, please leave a comment below and I’ll add it to my no-plan plan content calendar.)

Each month, the blog will welcome you with this little blurb:

Welcome to this month’s installment of our “Forward, March!” blog series. “Forward, March!” is meant to empower, encourage, and equip us as military spouses, so we may support our service members with ever-deepening levels of strength and perseverance. Our hope is that the topics discussed in “Forward, March!” will be not only informative, but also challenging (in a good way, of course) to ensure that our “talk” as military spouses manifests through our “walk” as military spouses. Now, let’s fall in and get to it!

That’s right. This blog series won’t just be chitty-chatting about a topic, but we’ll have a challenge to go along with it. And no, I’m not just going to issue the challenge, I’ll be doing it too! #GetPumpedAmerica

Since this blog is introductory, I’ll keep this month’s “Forward, March!” challenge relatively straightforward. This is a new blog, so let’s commit to trying one new thing in the next month.

This could be attending a new event on the installation, trying a new food, intentionally initiating a conversation with a new spouse, attempting a new hobby, the possibilities are endless.

Me? Yeah, I think my “new thing” this month will be starting to learn how to “do deployment” with two kids. (Oh wait, that doesn’t count? Drat.)

We’re excited to hear about what “new” things you’ll conquer in the coming month. Again, we invite you to leave a comment below so we can cheer you on!
