5 Marriage Tips from a Newly Married Spouse

5 Marriage Tips from a Newly Married Spouse

I didn’t have any doubts about us getting through my first year married to my husband. I knew there would be a lot of firsts and possible challenges. My mother told me that the first year of marriage can be trying, especially if you’ve never lived with your spouse before. Not only would it be a lot of fun, it would test my limits and help us understand each others’ quirks.

3 Resolutions I Won’t Be Keeping

3 Resolutions I Won’t Be Keeping

The new year has been rung in, and the resolutions are in full effect. I have made my resolutions for a better and improved Amanda in 2015. I have also made a list of resolutions I know I won’t be keeping. I would love to keep these wonderful resolutions, but I won’t, and that is perfectly and wonderfully okay.

Making Change Stick: Realistic = Sustainable

Making Change Stick: Realistic = Sustainable

The new year is officially underway, and I don’t know about you, but for me, there is nothing like being wrapped in the cocoon of winter to make a person contemplate the change spring can bring.

I think most people I know have gotten the idea out of their head that somehow, magically, on January 1 they would be able to make resolutions which would carry them through the next 12 months.

The Bright Side of a PCS

The Bright Side of a PCS

With their many moves, most military families develop a course of action, one that likely engenders more scrutiny for improvement than any other element of military family life. We have our own, and though our movers think we’re strange, my little military family sees the bright side of a PCS.

‘Tis Still the Season

‘Tis Still the Season

We’ve just wrapped up the holiday season with a neat little bow and the new year is upon us. All of those feelings of joy, sharing, gifting, and goodwill to all are about to run down the drain as we go back to work, school, and schedules. Here’s the thing, though—’tis still the season!

Go For the Goal

Go For the Goal

It comes around every 365 days, the time where folks make a resolution instead of a goal.

We gather up the remnants of the holiday decorations and pray that all of the stuff fits back in the box. We reflect. We hope. We dream about all things new.  Specifically, the new year.

When My World Turned Pink

When My World Turned Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (as if you didn’t know), and you may be seeing pink everywhere.

I never liked the color pink. I’m not sure why; I’ve just never been a fan of it. When my daughter was born, she had a patriotic-themed room with no pink in it. The only pink clothes she had were gifts from other people. I never bought her anything pink.

I didn’t like the color pink.
