In this week’s MEM Brooklyn & Amanda have tips to help ease the pain of missing events by being present at holidays and happenings when you can’t be there.
A Decade With You
I recently hit a big milestone. The United States Army has now owned a piece of my heart for 10 years, a whole decade—and I never even signed the papers to join. Well, actually, I did sign a paper. I signed my wedding certificate.
My husband and I just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. We commemorated it with a small but delicious meal he cooked us at 9 p.m. when he was back from one of many days of training exercises. And, I offered him some new treats I attempted to create, where my skill level was that of our children.
AWTR Show #833: Juggling Working From Home During Summer
This week’s MEM is brought to you by Jolene to discuss working from home during the summer. She gives tips on how best to enjoy summer while working from home.
7 Misconceptions of the National Guard
There was a time in my life when I knew nothing about the National Guard. All I knew was what I learned in history class about their role with the Little Rock Nine. I also knew that I saw them after tornado outbreaks in my state.
Kindness from a Stranger
We recently made the big move from Germany to Fort Lee, Virginia. That on its own sounds daunting, but roll in the fact we did it with an 8-year-old and triplet 3-year-olds, and we were a walking circus! As with every move, there were highs and lows with emotions and all the frustrations that come from living out of a suitcase for months and packing and repacking more times than you can count. So, by the time we finished the first leg of our trip from Germany to Washington, D.C., I was an exhausted mother running on fumes and barely able to keep the smile on my face.
Make the Best of A New Duty Station
My husband gave me a profound reminder today: “No duty station is ever as good or as bad as everyone says it is.”
Think about that a moment. Part of this statement may be disappointing and seem negative, but hopefully some of it encourages and offers hope.
AWTR Show #827: How to Connect Baby and Parent: Deployment Style
In this week’s Milspouse Empowerment Moment Annie talks about how to connect baby and parent through a deployment. She has come up with great tips to do this.
