4 Tips for a Healthy Marriage While Homeschooling
Yes, homeschooling is a wonderful journey of love and bonding with your children. The ability to watch them grow and learn in a healthy environment is absolutely heartwarming.
Why Today? Why September 11th?
I remember asking my friends that question while we were walking home. We were scared and confused, but we truly had no grasp on the gravity of the situation.
Sept. 11, 2001, wasn’t a typical school day from the start. At the time, I was a senior in high school. I attended Cathedral High School, an all-girl prep school, in mid-town Manhattan, approximately four miles from the World Trade Center.
Finding My Way
As I continue along our recruiting journey, I am overwhelmed by how much I miss being at a military installation.
I had no idea that it would be as hard to adjust. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m taking it in stride and I realize it will take more time than just 2.5 months to adjust to being away from the military community.
Life is What We Make It
Every so often, it’s empowering to take stock of where you are on this military journey. Ten, even five years, from now you may look back and be somewhere completely different than where you expected or planned you’d be.
I know I definitely am.
Field Problem: Financial Benefits of Deployment
Dear, Field Problems:
I keep hearing about all of these financial benefits that we should be taking advantage of while my husband is deployed, but I haven’t got a clue where to find out more information on what they are. Can you help?

Military Spouse Oath of Commitment
I wondered recently how many military spouses have read or asked about the promise our service member have to make in order to join or rejoin the military. To hear my husband tell it, there’s a lot of weight in those words. (I remember; I recited them once too.)
Neither of us wanted to flub them, and they were not taken lightly by anyone we knew. They’re on par with marriage vows, in my opinion.
All your earnestness is behind both.
Field Problem: SFRG Participation
Dear, Field Problems:
In my husband’s unit they have a Soldier and Family Readiness Group, and the leader has contacted me about attending meetings and fundraisers. I am a new military spouse, and I don’t know what SFRG is all about. I thought about attending the last meeting she put together, but my husband says he would rather me not participate with the group because of rumors and other issues that he has heard about. Can you tell me more about what SFRG is all about? Should I participate? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
