PCSing isn’t easy, for anyone. While we plan ahead for our children and do the best we can to help our military kids adapt and adjust, PCSing for teens is different than it is for younger children.
Sometimes, the words that flow out of my military children’s mouths just have a way of hitting me. A gut punch, saddening me for how they truly feel; an “ah-ha” moment, enlightening me to see into their world; or a rolling laugh over their hilarious observations.
A lot of people struggle with infertility silently, only share with close family and friends, but there are others that are open books. Regardless of how transparent someone may be about their struggle, there are some pretty common comments that people in the infertility world hear over and over that truly hurt.
The 35-mile drive to the gate at Fort Irwin, CA seemed to take forever. As we passed painted rock and the infamous Coyote, the realization that we were in the middle of nowhere, and this was my FIRST duty station as an Army spouse, hit like a ton of rocks (pun intended).
April is the month of the military child. Although, I don’t know what that really means, it is nice to stop and think about our lives.
When military families decide to have children, it is a wonderful, joyous occasion just like civilian life, except there are a few tweaks we must consider.
