In this week’s Milspouse Empowerment Moment Chrissy explains why volunteering is so great. She discusses the benefits of volunteering that you receive.
From First Meeting to Besties
Tomorrow I’m meeting Jordan.
We’re meeting up at my favorite Italian restaurant because it was left up to me to pick the location. We’re meeting up because Jordan asked a question on Facebook. And, well, I honestly don’t know why it continued any further than my answering of that question.
AWTR Show #831: Milspouse Affirmations
For this week’s MEM Amber talks to us about empowering Milspouse affirmations. She hopes these can give you the encouragement that you need to tackle your day.
Friendship: A Reason, Season, and a Lifetime
These are military friendships. They burn hard and fast. We don’t have time for long-term sustained experiences or the slow growth of friendship, and so our military life forces us to assume friendship “rules of engagement” and hard truths.
5 Ways Military Families Can Help Heal the Nation
It’s safe to say that our country is hurting. We’ve had an entire year through a worldwide pandemic, political polarization, enormous numbers of grieving Americans, and feelings of impatience and anger as we seek our ideas of justice and freedom.
If you’re like me, you’ve been asking yourself, how do we heal?
AWTR Show #792: InDependent Wellness Summit (Giveaway)
Join Evie King as she chats about InDependent, founded by five military spouses who saw a need in the military community for a social wellness program and sought to fill it.
10 Ideas to Get Together (Virtually)
It’s the last month of 2020. I’m making an educated guess here, but I’d say more than 75% of the people you know are ready for a new year. We might have to dig deep, but there are lists of positive things that 2020 has delivered to your doorstep. My personal favorite has been the slower pace and increased family time.
Coming Together
Living at a small military base overseas, I feel like it is only natural for everyone to know everyone.
The housing communities are small and nestled into local German towns and villages. It is a wonderful experience but can also feel isolating. I have to say, in our nearly five years of living overseas, this has been one of the most welcoming and close-knit communities we have ever been a part of. You run your errands on post or on the local economy, and you are bound to find someone you know and are bound to strike up a conversation.
The Great Camp-In
Six years ago, when my oldest was only a wee Kindergartener, I decided to put her in Girl Scouts so she could get some social interaction with kids her own age. The Daisy troop already had a leader but needed a co-leader, so I signed up to help and was promptly indoctrinated into the world of squealing, excited-little-girl wrangling.
Trying to handle 10+ girls and lead them through badges and journeys took all of the strength that we had, but it forever cemented my love for the Girl Scouts!
