I’ve written several times now about my life as a mother—all the ups and downs and ins and outs that came with the arrival of my little boy last fall. But, there’s another person who is an absolutely indispensable part of the Reynolds “Baby Raising Team.” My husband. My child’s dad.
Memorial Day is a day I will always struggle with.
Memorial Day 2012 will always be the most memorable and heartbreaking holiday I have ever experienced.
That emotional day, Toby was returned to us in a flag-draped casket after he lost his life in Afghanistan.
Happy March, everyone! This month, I’m feeling lucky. Why, you ask?
Here are my top five reasons:
The new year has been rung in, and the resolutions are in full effect. I have made my resolutions for a better and improved Amanda in 2015. I have also made a list of resolutions I know I won’t be keeping. I would love to keep these wonderful resolutions, but I won’t, and that is perfectly and wonderfully okay.
There are many challenges that come with a life in the military, but there are also many sweet moments, and I feel it is important to relish in those good moments, when they come to us. My family recently got to experience one of these beautiful moments in our military journey—a Christmas homecoming.
We’ve just wrapped up the holiday season with a neat little bow and the new year is upon us. All of those feelings of joy, sharing, gifting, and goodwill to all are about to run down the drain as we go back to work, school, and schedules. Here’s the thing, though—’tis still the season!
Can you believe we’re already days away from 2015? Neither can I! It seems like this year has flown by, and now that it’s practically behind me, I’m starting to look ahead for what the new year will bring, and trying to embrace the future.
It comes around every 365 days, the time where folks make a resolution instead of a goal.
We gather up the remnants of the holiday decorations and pray that all of the stuff fits back in the box. We reflect. We hope. We dream about all things new. Specifically, the new year.
