Did you know… Mission: Milspouse published its 3000th blog post in 2023 and is still growing!
Morgan “Lucky 51” Gaffney
“I used to find running so easy and it came naturally to me. Now I really have to work at it.”- Morgan Gaffney. There is truth that it pays to be in the right place at the right time, as found out. In life, we all encounter challenges that can be life-changing and...
Planning for the ‘No-Plan Plans’
I firmly believe that military spouses are some of the most empowered, flexible, resourceful folks on the planet. Don’t believe me? I think 2020 proved it! We rolled with the punches, changing, dipping, ducking, and adapting, even if we might have put on a few pounds or developed a hypothetical eye twitch.
Seriously—we were planning around no-plan plans before it was cool. (Just kidding—the changing plans last year were not cool. Like, at all.)
Finding Myself
This past year I reflected, I faltered, I grew, and I stumbled my way into genuinely loving myself. That isn’t to say I hated myself before, but rather I struggled to know who I was. I have many hobbies, attend events, and volunteer for different community activities, all which add pieces that build on what makes me “Renee.”

Making Family Finances a Priority in 2021
Happy New Year! I know many of us have been waiting to say those words for quite some time. With our lives upended in 2020, it’s a relief to see hope on the horizon for an end to the global pandemic. Not only can we start to look forward to normalizing our daily lives, but this is an optimal time to start planning for the future.
2021 Can Be a Year of Spring Cleaning, If We Let It.
You might have read that title and said something like, “Whoa. I don’t want to deep clean all year!”
Slow your scroll.
What I mean by “spring cleaning” is less about ridding our homes of physical things and more about letting go of negative thinking.
(However, if you’re like me and getting ready for a PCS, it could be a thing to consider!)
I don’t usually have New Year’s resolutions, and going into 2021, I don’t still have them.
Instead, I’m going into 2021 with an intention: positivity.
USO Hosts Virtual Workshops to Help Military Spouses Reach New Year Goals
What do you want to achieve in the new year? Are you looking for a new career? For inspiration? For peace of mind?
After an unprecedented and challenging year, we are all looking for positivity in 2021. At the USO, a nonprofit organization supporting service members and military families for almost 80 years, we want to help military spouses embrace the change and hope of a new year. Through a series of virtual events, we can help military spouses focus on their dreams while staying safe during the ongoing pandemic.
