Did you know… Mission: Milspouse published its 3000th blog post in 2023 and is still growing!
Dealing with the “Wait” While Waiting on Orders
Hurry up and wait. We have all felt and experienced the military’s unique system of getting us ready for new situations. It starts in a hurry and then a wait.
Feeling Stuck and 10 Ways to Break Free
Feeling stuck. Been there? Currently there?
I’ve been feeling stuck since January, longer really, but some circumstances since January have me feeling trapped. These are big decisions that don’t have right or wrong answers.
The Mighty Military Spouse
As we just celebrated the mother of all American holidays, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride in being a military spouse, especially an Army one! My pride in this fact does not always manifest itself in an over-the-top “We can do it” mantra (but in all honesty, I have flexed my bicep during a few solo PCS moves and deployments). I don’t always feel like a mighty military spouse.
Speed Dating, Mommy-style
You know about speed dating, but have you heard of mom dating? It’s a thing, y’all.
It’s what you do to check out little Timmy’s friend’s mom. Are you compatible?
Or…
Will you stab your eyes out if you spend more than 15 minutes at the playground with her?
Just Do It!
“Just do it!”
No, not the kinds of things Nike encourages, although that stuff is good! I’m talking today about things specifically related to military spouse friendships.
Redefining Home
When I was 5 years old, my family relocated for my father’s company consolidation. In preparing for my first-ever move, I told my mom I didn’t want to go because I didn’t want to leave my best friend. She was understandably confused. She couldn’t pinpoint one friend that was my favorite or that I’d spent the most time with from preschool or our neighborhood, so she had to ask. “Who’s your best friend?”
Very emotionally, I replied in all seriousness, “My house!”
Recon Rendezvous: A Little Milspouse Fun
For many years, people have gravitated toward me for advice or life-coaching conversations since I’m a certified life coach. I’m grateful to share my thoughts and personal experiences on a variety of topics such as being a milspouse, parenting, fitness/weight loss, writing, and faith.
However, I’ve never had anyone come up to me and say, “Hey, Sharita… I need some advice on how to have more fun in my life. Can you help me out?”
