Pandemic PCSing
Sometimes it is hard to believe that we are already this far into a pandemic. I never imagined that’s what 2020 would look like. And frankly, I’m pretty ready for this year to end. Sometimes I find it difficult to imagine how life has to keep moving forward even though it feels like everything must be put on hold.
My husband is currently at recruiting school, and we are planning to move before the year is over. (We were supposed to move in June, but the stop order put that to an end.) He hasn’t been there long, so I am still waiting to find out where we are moving to.
Thanks to Video Chatting
While re-reading my previous post, I keep coming back to the, “You should have seen my face!” exclamation and subsequent wordy explanation of how I did see my own face—thanks to video chatting.
Lately, I have been thinking how thankful I am for video chats. Guessing I am not the only one with an increased participation in video calls, I got a little curious about the history of them.
A recent Time magazine article shared some insight into the history of video calling and how this technology took much longer than anticipated to actually take off.
Welcomed Ruckus
Done. With a sigh of relief and purse full of snacks and entertainment in hand, my four boys and I finally went back to mass this past Sunday for the first time since COVID-19 took over our lives this past March. Needless to say, I was anxious about attending an event with so many people concentrated in one place, but was assured by our padre, Father John, that every precaution was taken to ensure the health and safety of parishioners was at the forefront of newly implemented COVID protocols.
PCS and Stress: A Personal Journey
It’s that wonderful time of year where we are told to move at the U.S. Army’s behest to a new area. As exciting as it is to move to a new area, it can also be overwhelming and scary. In my opinion, the most overwhelming part about PCSing is the packing!
Trying to stay organized during this time is stressful, especially when a toddler and pregnancy is added into the mix. The good news is that my family and I have a little more time to PCS than last time. The bad news is that we must do a DITY move.
Explore the World from Home
If there is one thing in this crazy new world norm that I miss the most, it’s the ability to hop on a plane, jump into my car (road trip!), or cruise across large bodies of water to discover somewhere new.
Anyone who knows me also knows that sitting in one place too long makes me jumpy. I like adventure and new experiences. I want to meet new people and discover weird facts. I’ve made it to four of the seven continents, and my travel bucket list is long enough to cover the next 30 years of my life!1.
Can you imagine that quarantine life has been hard?
