Making the Hard Decisions
The number of decisions we make each day is endless: What to wear, what to eat, whether we should work out, what to watch on TV, do we really need that particular item at the grocery store?
But they get bigger, too! Do I really want to spend a whole year without my service member? When do I decide to make a move in my career? When do we choose to grow our family?
The PCS Itch
CS season is upon us, and I have the PCS itch.
My family has officially been at our duty station long enough to watch familiar faces pack up and head off to new adventures. All the houses in my neighborhood are emptying out, which means that my neighbors, my people who have become my friends, confidants, and my children’s playmates are moving away, and it’s heartbreaking in so many ways.
Every Month is Month of the Military Child, If You Ask Me
All of us here at Army Wife Network know that April is Month of the Military Child. Interestingly, it is also Sports Eye Safety Month, National Fresh Celery Month, and International Guitar Month, but I think I’ll let someone else write about those topics.
I’m here to write about what I know and love: Military children.
When the Going Gets Tough
Being a military spouse is a walk in the park… And by park, I mean Jurassic Park.
Some days I feel like I can conquer the world while other moments it’s a complete miracle that my kids are still alive and I remembered to put on pants.
We’ve all heard the saying “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” I’d like to consider myself tough, but where the heck am I supposed to “go” on tough days when my service member is already gone to work/TDY/deployment?!
Running Your Race: Military Spouses and Retirement
Each year, millions of people will train for and run a marathon. Many of these runners have trained for years, hoping to compete in prestigious races. They’ve dreamed of what it would be like to be the first to cross the finish line as victory cheers ring out around them.
When the first three runners cross the finish line, the race is far from over. There are many runners who are still running their own race, striving to do their best even though they know they won’t be coming in first.
3 Coastal Vacation Spots Near Military Installations
Rolling waves glisten and sparkle under the effervescent rays of morning sunshine. A soothing breeze off the water sweeps the hair from your eyes as you gaze across the sand and surf. There’s no stress here!
It’s the perfect setting for the getaway trip you’ve been longing for. Suddenly, a car door opens. You realize you’ve been daydreaming again while waiting in the pick-up line outside of your child’s school!
But what if you could actually escape to beachy bliss?
