The Gift of People!
I consider myself to still be pretty new to the military life- my husband commissioned as a chaplain in the Air Force in 2021 and we are still only on our first assignment! But these initial years have definitely opened my eyes to the differences between people’s...
Commonly Overlooked Employment Advice for Milspouses
One of the chief concerns of a milspouse facing a PCS is finding employment. The list of priorities is as follows:
Where will I live?
Where will my kids go to school?
How do I get to the grocery store?
Where will I work?
Think About “Thank You” Before the Interview
In the flurry of pre-interview preparation, it’s easy to dismiss the idea of making plans for what comes next. While you’re mid-interview prep, it may seem like there will never be a “next”—for all you know, you could be preparing forever, like some kind of job market Groundhog Day. Reasons for Milspouse Pride: Part 1
I have a confession to make.
Sometimes, in the day-to-day shenanigans that is military spouse life, I forget about the pride that comes with this calling.
And I don’t mean pride like, “Look at me, I’m so awesome” pride; more like, “Wow. My spouse is the bomb dot com. This life can be hard, but I sure am proud of what my service members is doing for our country/world/family.”
Maybe you find yourself sometimes forgetting the pride part of this milspouse ride.

It isn’t the typical PCS season, and we often associate this time of year as the “settling-in months.” Think about it. We’re already into December, and you’re spending your energy doing what? Decorating for Christmas and buying presents? I am!
A Year of Great Change
It’s hard to believe 2016 is about to come to a close, but it was a year of great change, full of ups and downs for my family. I don’t know if I ever imagined things being the way they are at this stage in my life, especially as I approach the big 3-0, but I sure am grateful for the many experiences I’ve had and the many blessings in my life.
Deployment During the Holidays: Part 2
For us, the spouses, we have the option of being with friends and family, usually in a semi-familiar place for the holidays. We can choose what we want to do, what we want to cook and eat, what we want to buy, where we want to go. Unfortunately, our service members don’t get that luxury.
